About Breast Revision Surgery
Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Frank L. Stile performs removal and replacement of breast implants at Stile Aesthetics in Las Vegas, NV to improve the look and shape of breasts. Candidates for removal and replacement of breast implants desire to have previously placed breast prostheses (implants) removed for symptomatic or medical-legal reasons and to have new implants inserted. Implant types may be changed as well. Presently, many women who currently have saline implants opt to have them replaced with silicone-cohesive-gel "gummy-bear" implants. The result is a restored and beautifully natural breast shape.
Why is this surgery needed?
Breast revision surgery may be needed due to a breast augmentation procedure that did not turn out well, an implant that is malfunctioning, or for a simple change of aesthetics. Women decide to have this procedure for a number of different reasons, including:
A desire to have a different breast size
After having breast implants for several years, some women decided to change the size of their implants to smaller or larger ones. This may be a personal aesthetic preference to shape, type of implant, texture of the implant. It may also be necessary as a woman’s weight fluctuates with age.
The removal of breast implants
Some women desire to have their breast implants removed all together as they no longer wish to have them or have a medical condition that requires the removal.
A silicone implant rupture usually happens and goes undetected until the shape of the breast is noticeably different or is detected with an MRI. However, a saline implant will immediately deflate. Both require a surgical intervention.
A double bubble refers to the breast implant being placed incorrectly by the plastic surgeon or from the implant shifting downward under the breast giving the appearance of a double breast. This can happen on one or both breasts.
Scarring or capsular contracture
Scarring can cause breast implants to lose their shape and feel very hard. As scar tissue has grown around the implant (usually saline implants), it has to be surgically removed for best results.
When a breast implant develops a ripple or a wrinkle within itself, it sometimes can be seen under the skin around the outside of the breast of the patient. This rippling can happen with saline or silicone implants and within one or both breasts.
Breast Revision Surgery Reviews
"Dr.Frank Stile is nothing short of amazing. I went to him for a breast augmentation revision. I am 100% happy with the results. From the initial consultation from my follow appointments his staff and him have been very thorough. In my consultation Dr.Stile explained everything very thoroughly so I could have a realistic idea of what the outcome would be. He doesn't just tell you what you want to hear, which is something I appreciated very much. I'm very happy with my results almost 9 months after surgery. He is a perfectionist and it shows. Go to Dr.Stile, you won't be disappointed."- S.K. / Yelp / Jan 05, 2017

"Best Experience - I was referred to Dr. Stile from one of his previous patients when it was believed that I had an implant that was leaking. When I had my initial consulation, I was very comfortable with Dr. Stile and his team. He was confident in that I did have an issue and recommended that we take care of sooner rather than later. After going through augmentation a couple of times, I felt a confidence with Dr. Stile that I had not felt with my other previous surgeons.I was very nervous about the exchange procedure although Dr. Stile and his team, especially Dr. Crowley his anesthesiologist, made me feel so comfortable that they erased all of my fears.I am so very completely pleased with my results. Even though I had not planned to have another augmentation, I'm happy that I went to Dr. Stile. For the first time ever, I'm very happy with the shape of my breasts. I very happily and with NO reservations recommend Dr. Stile and his team."- Anonymous / Vitals / Sep 20, 2010
"Breast Implants Removal and Replacement - After 20 years with my old saline implants, one of them ruptured and I needed both removed and replaced. I was recommended to Dr. Stile through a coworker and was extremely satisfied with the facility, his staff, and his professionalism throughout the consultation, procedure, and post-care. I have recommended him to several friends since. Dr. Stile did a great job identifying what I needed and..."- K. / RealSelf / Aug 19, 2017
What to Expect
Breast revision surgery is usually very similar to the initial breast augmentation surgery, but it depends on the surgical case, and what is being addressed. For women who are getting a smaller size or removal, a breast lift may be necessary to correct loose skin. For other patients who have scar tissue, rippling, double bubble, or an implant rupture, a reconstructive process will be performed to prevent a reoccurrence. The plastic surgeon will address the issue at hand and resolve the problem with a realistic outcome discussed prior to treatment. Patients should keep in mind that the more difficult the procedure, the longer the recovery will be.
Breast revision patients will again be educated on how to properly care for the surgical incision points and the best skincare treatments to reduce scarring. There will also be significant bruising and swelling for the first couple of weeks. Patients should limit strenuous exercise, but still get up and move around to promote healing and blood circulation. Most patients recover in 4 – 6 weeks and extremely happy with their breast revision results.
